End of the Year MOPS Celebration!

Our May 23^rd Meeting is going to be a picnic-style meeting. Our Moppet workers are few due to vacations and different things, and this will be a fun ending to our year. So, there will be no childcare offered, BUT the nursery rooms will be available to us if needed, and we'll have all kinds of fun stuff to do, like bouncy houses and games, and access to the playground outside. The food will be bring your own picnic/snack food. Good times!

Arcadia is a gym where the kids will have the chance to play on the mats and RUN around for a little while.  We'll have the place to ourselves!  Coaches will help manage the kids as well.  No gymnastics experience required.  Wear comfy clothes and socks.

MOPS Meetings are back!

December 14th MOPS Meeting

A LOT is going on at our December 14th MOPS Meeting!

Can't wait to see YOU there!

• YOU are invited even if this is your first meeting with us or if you've never been to one of our meetings.
• Come hungry! (don't forget food if you signed up to bring something for our regular meeting or the Moppets brunch)
• Last chance to enter a ticket in the gift card drawings! If at anytime since September you've brought food, greeted at the door, or helped in the kitchen - you get to enter 1 ticket. If you babysat at a Steering meeting - you get 2 tickets and you get entered in the Steering Babysitter Only gift basket drawing. Ask a Steering member if you're not sure what to do. Drawings will be held at this meeting!
• Bring your Secret Sister gift. Keep it with you and don't tell anyone who you have! We'll do the exchanging at a designated time. (Please attend this meeting even if you're not participating in the Secret Sister. Not everyone participates.)
• Moppets Brunch, to thank the volunteers who so graciously watch our children during MOPS meetings, immediately following. Can you stay after our regular meeting and help with the brunch? We need help with room set-up, food serving, clean-up and babysitting. Anything you can do is wonderful!

Mom's Social and Cookie Exchange

Make 6 cookies for each person attending (21 are signed). If you can put them in a bag, tin, box, anything that you want to distribute them. Also make an extra 6 cookies to share that evening. This is such a great way to stock up on cookies for the holidays!   (NOTE: this is different than we've done it in the past.  If you have questions or want to get on the list, contact Jodie Fusetti 412.974.6361).

Operation Christmas Child

We will be taking part in

Operation Christmas Child

at our next meeting, November 9th

Operation Christmas Child is a Christian gift distribution run though Samaritan's Purse. Each year at around Christmastime people all over the world fill shoe boxes with things that children need and enjoy. These boxes are sent to children who have very little. The children who will receive our boxes will no doubt open them with great delight and excitement!

Each DGL group will put at least one box together. If you would like to be a part of this, please choose one or more items listed below. There are boxes for boys and for girls so you can buy gender appropriate items. There are also age groups for each box - ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. We will also be collecting the required $7 shipping fee for each box. Bring your item(s) and/or cash to the November 9th meeting.  For more information, contact your DGL or if your don't know who your DGL is, contact  sbjensen20(at)gmail(dot)com.

 

GIFT IDEAS

TOYS small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), Slinky®, etc.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

HYGIENE ITEMS toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

OTHER Hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps; sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)

A PERSONAL NOTE In a separate envelope, you may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child may write back.)

Mom's Only Social - Night at the Movies!

The yellow group is hosting this month's Mom Social - A Night at the Movies - to see the new version of Footloose!  (Yes... there are movies out there that aren't animated!!)  Come on out for an evening of fun with some fun ladies and enjoy a fun movie!  Leave the kiddos at home - you deserve a night out :)

(An email will be sent with the time of the movie.  Mom's are responsible for their own movie tickets, approximately $8.)

Gwen Deluca, a mom in the yellow group, is opening her home to CEFC MOPS Moms and kids for a playdate!  You are welcome to bring your children over to her house on October 7th from 9:00am - 12 noonish. She will provide pretzels, goldfish, cheerios, and juice for a snack. If you would like, you may bring something else for everyone to share.

* Dress your kiddos for indoor/outdoor play weather permitting

* She wanted you to know that she has two cats, in case of allergies

* They have a "no shoe" policy in their house, great for those with little ones who like to eat everything!
